There was a docudrama about Chinese Cubans by Rigoberto Lopez entitled: "El Viaje Mas largo" shown at New York University starting with the Chinese coolie laborers to present (Racially mixed Cubans with Chinese roots). Try Cuban Chinese enclaves in Havana. The surname "Choi" is also spelled : Tsoi, Tsai, Cai, Choy, Chooey meaning papermakers from ancient times. Have you done any census search on your Greatgrandfather under his Spanish name. Try the genealogical society in your city. Is the burial site for your relative known? and is the gravestone in Spanish or Chinese? For historical reference on the Chinese immigration: Try The Press University of West Indies (email:[email protected]) for their book catalog and possibly Chinese immigration. Also try "Your Chinese Roots:The Overseas Chinese Story" by Thomas Tsu-wee Tan, 1987.
