I am a Fam, I did some reaserach on my ancestry. I am from Malaysia , Kuala Lumpur . My ancestor is a Hakka from Hui Chow province (next to Canton). He comes from the district of Tham Sui. If you spell your name as Fam , chances are your ancestor are Hakka , most cantonese will spell it as Fan. I managed to get an ancestry book from a relative of mine and I am able to trace my lineage to the Ming dynasty. If you are able to determine you are a Hakka and from Hui Chow, there may be a link somewhere.
