Oscar,
I suspect that your ancestor migrated to Peru from either Guangdong or Fukien (aka Fujian) Province
since nearly all the Chinese migrated from these two provinces during that period.
It also sounds like his family name might have been Foo or Fu.
Check out discussions on these surnames at
http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~chinesesurname/f.html#F
Also, take a look at some of the surname queries on Foo and Fu at the same website.
From that, it looks like the Foo/Fu family name has a stronghold in Fukien/Fujian Province.
My only other suggestion is for you to search out some Foo/Fu family clan association for
members who may have migrated to Peru.
Also, search out Fukien/Fujian associations and Teochiu/Chiu Chow associations.
Teochiu/Chiu Chow is one of the large class of people from Fukien/Fujian Province,
and many of them migrated during that time.
This is just my personal assessment based on what little you provided about your ancestors.
Good luck!
Raymond
