According to the book "In Search of Your Asian Roots" by Sheau-yueh J. Chao, the surname "Chueh" derived from the place name Chueh-tang (located in the present Chu-fu, Shantung province) where the great Chinese philosopher Confucius (Kung-tzu) came from. The Chueh family originally settled in Shantung and later expanded to Pei hsien, Chiang-su province.

I believe the Chinese family name "Soong" is also spelled "Song". Check out a brief discussion of the "Song" surname at http://www.yutopian.com/names/07/7song22.html
