Indenture of George Kindrick as Sheriff of Russel Co, Virginia 1819-1820



know all men by these present, that we George Kindrick, James Kendrick, Jeremiah Munsey, Jacob Lambert, Andrew Cowan, Thomas Gibson, William Horton are held and firmly bound unto James P. Preston Esquire Governor and Cheif Magistrate of the commonwealth of Virginia in the just and full sum of three thousand dollars to be paid to the said Governor and his (unreadable) for the use of the Commonwealth, for the payment whereof all and truly to be made we bind, ourselves and each of us, our and each of our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and soundly firmly by their presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this 5th day of October 1819.
The condition of the above obligation is such that wherein the above bound George Kindrick is constituted and appointed, Sheriff of the County of Russel by a commission from the Governor under the seal of the Commonwealth dated the 29th day of July last past. If therefore the said George Kindrick shall faithfully collect, account for and pay according to law, the taxes imposed by law in the said County of Russell, then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
