Indenture of George Kindrick as Sheriff of Russel
Co, Virginia 1820-1821 2nd Indenture
know all men by
these present, that we George Kindrick,
William Gilmore and Harry Smith are held and firmly
bound unto Thomas M. Randolph Esquire Governor or Cheif
Magistrate of the commonwealth of Virginia in the just and
full sum of three thousand dollars to be paid to the said
Governor and his successors for the use of the
Commonwealth, for the payment whereof well and truly to be
made we bind, ourselves and each of us, our and each of our
heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severaly
firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated
this 7th day of November 1820.
The condition of the above obligation is such that
whereas the above bound George Kindrick is constituted and
appointed, Sheriff of the County of Russell by a commission
from the Governor under seal of the Commonwealth dated
the 1st day of August last past. If therefore the said
George Kindrick shall well and truly collect and receive
all officers fees and dues past into his hands to collect
and duly account for and pay the same to the officers to
whom such fees are due respectivly at such times as are
prescribed and limited by law and shall well and truly
execute and due return make of all proceeds and profits to
him directed and pay and satisfy all sums of money and
tobacco by him received by virtue of any such profits. The
person or persons to whom the same are due his or their
executors, administrators or assigns, and in all other
things shall truly and faithfully execute and preform the
said office of Sheriff during his continuance therein, then
this
obligation to be void, otherwise remain in full force
and virtue.
