Leonard and Mary Ferguson Farmer

Leonard Farmer, the first child of Jacob and Pena Farmer, was born on October 3, 1817 in North Carolina, probably in Guilford County.  He married Mary Ferguson, born about 1818 in North Carolina, on December 15, 1842 in Morgan County, Indiana.

The couple had two children: 

Lydia Ann, b. 1847 in Indiana.

William L., b. 1861 in Iowa.   

Leonard and/or Mary are found in the following federal census records

1850 in Guilford township, Hendricks County, Indiana (Leonard, Mary, Lydia, and William Ferguson, probably Mary’s younger brother)

1860 in Washington township, Warren County, Iowa (Leonard, Mary, and Lydia)  Next door is John Ferguson, probably another younger brother of Mary, and his family.

1870 in Washington township, Warren County, Iowa (Leonard, Mary, William).  Fergusons are still next door.

1880 in Washington township, Warren County, Iowa (Leonard, Mary, William)

1900 in Lincoln township, Warren County, Iowa (Mary, William, and William’s wife and son, Carrie B. and Clarence R.)

Leonard died before 1900.  Mary died after 1900.
