Vic's Australian History & Family
Vic travelled widely and worked in a number of wood-machinist/cabinet-maker positions since arriving in Australia. He also played in a number of brass bands (as an amateur) in both Queensland and New South Wales.
Vic eventually settled in Sydney, continuing to work as a wood-machinist and cabinet-maker.
He married Elsie May Ramsey in June 1937. Vic formally changed his name to Carl Victor Christie in December 1944, and he and his Australian family were known by that surname from that time.
Vic was later accepted for employment as a technical teacher at the former Sydney Technical College, specialising in wood-machining. He rose to the position of Head Teacher at the College, retiring in June 1967.
Vic and Elsie lived in Sydney, Wagga Wagga, Nowra, Leumeah, Engadine and Heathcote (all in the state of New South Wales, Australia) during their 57 year marriage. Vic died in 1994, and Elsie died in 1999. They are survived by a daughter and son (and their respective families), residing in Australia.
