Lelant (St. Uny Lelant) Cornwall

St Uny, Lelant 2006 St Uny, Lelant, 2006 ©

General Information

Lelant is situated on the estuary of the Hayle River, about 3 miles from St Ives. It's 15th century Church, St Uny, is dedicated to the Irish saint of that name.  It is a particularly beautiful part of Cornwall.

For general information about Lelant I strongly suggest you visit  LELANT, the website of Maxwell Adams.  Maxwell is a resident of Lelant and his site contains most information about the parish that you would ever want to know.

Another excellent resource is Rick Parsons' WEST PENWITH RESOURCES.  Rick's site includes some Lelant specific information but also covers other parishes in the West Penwith area.

I also suggest you visit (and register at) PENWITH GENEALOGY, a forum maintained by Kathy Weigel, where experienced members are often able to assist with specific queries.

Many records from and concerning Lelant and nearby parishes have been transcribed and added to the CORNWALL OPC DATABASE  which you will also find extremely helpful.

As the OPC (On-line Parish Clerk) for Lelant I tend to "collect" Lelant people and records. Much of the information I have has not been published on this site.  If you have a query please EMAIL me, providing as much detail as possible, and I will do my best to assist or at least point you in the right direction.
