From the recollections of my aunt Amelia ,born 1919, she was very much brought up by her grandparents, Thomas Glover and Amelia (Lomas) in Coppull.

His birth certificate shows that Thomas Glover was been born 3 February, 1866 at Pearsley Cross, Sutton.

His mother Mary, not being able to write, signed her name on the certificate with a X.
His father was Hugh Glover and his mother was Mary Pye.

Living at Hardings Row, Rainford this census shows his disabled father Hugh (51) b.Abt. 1829, from Rainford and mother Mary (52) b.Abt. 1830 from Prescot.

The Children, seen on the second page, were Elizabeth (17) working as a pit bank girl, Thomas (16) miner, Sarah A. (12) born in Skelmersdale, and Hugh (7).

Thomas Glover married Amelia Maria Lomas on the 22 May 1886, at Prescot Parish Church (C of E). He was aged 21, Amelia was 20 years old.

The family moved from Rainford to Westhoughton between the years of the 1891 census and the birth of Thomas (1898)

Thomas Glover, my ggp, is shown in the 1901 census as living at 44 Dicconson Lane, Wingates, Westhoughton aged 36, (miner) with his wife Amelia (31) and children Jane (11), Amelia (8), Mary Ann (6), Thomas (3) and Reuben (1). He is shown as having been born in Pearsley Cross, and Amelia his wife from St. Helens.

Dicconson Lane is a continuation of Bolton Road out of Aspull that meets Chorley Road, and lies between Aspull and Wingates. (see map)
