Christopher Whitmore Family Tree and Genealogy

Surname: Lowe

Lowe is one of the many names that came to England following the Norman Conquest of 1066. The Lowe family lived in Worcestershire. The earliest incidences of the name appear to be of local origin. lowe is most likely derived from the word "hlaw" meaning a hill. There are other instances of the name derived from the Anglo-Norman french word "lou" or "leu" meaning a wolf, and in this case would describe a person who was crafty or dangerous.

The Lowe family for my research started with my grandmother Mary Jane who married Thomas Glover in 1919.
