Florence ended her brief but courageous battle with cancer on March 19, 2013, to be with Christ. When she entered the hospital, she prayed for peace, and her prayer was answered.

Born in Greenville SC on May 30, 1954, she grew up around the world as an "Air Force Brat". She later earned her undergraduate degree from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, followed by a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Georgia. She moved with her husband to Auburn, WA in 1990 and later retired from Boeing in September 2012 after 20 years of service.

She dedicated herself to serving Messiah Lutheran Church in Auburn, WA. Her volunteer includes the Stephen Ministry, Art Committee, Altar Guild, and Funeral Ministry, Advent and Spring Luncheons, ALPHA Dinners, and Summer Breakfasts. She enjoyed decorating for church events, creating slides for Sunday services, ushering, and participating in her Bible study group. She also relished hosting visitors at the Historic Elbe Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O). She loved scrapbooking, gardening, bargain hunting and enjoying every moment with her grandchildren. She was devoted to her cats Saffron, Sassy, Mimi, Charlie, Raritie, Shadowme2 and now Sgt Joe Friday.

In addition to her husband, Leon, Florence left behind her father, Joseph Bales; brothers Douglas, William, and David Bales; sisters-in-law Mary, Tandy, Anne, and Mary Ellen Bales; stepsons Michael and Tony Chute; daughters-in-law Denise and Connie Chute; grandchildren Martika, Amos and Joelle; Uncle Joe Burdette; Aunts Mary Beth Burdette and Jo Graber; and nephews and nieces Matthew, Louise, Robert, Joseph, Daniel, Brian, Breanna, Heather, and Tiffany. She was predeceased by her mother, Ellen Bales, her brother, Robert Bales and grandparents Joel and Bertha Burdette.

Memorial Services will be held in Auburn, WA at Messiah Lutheran Church on April 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM and in Pelzer, SC at Washington Baptist Church with internment on April 13, 2013 at 1:00 PM. Donations may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.

BUCKSPORT - Genevra Chute, 98, passed away on October 17, 2017. She was born in Bangor on April 9, 1919, to Hazel (Burke) and Don Brean. Genevra grew up in Bangor and graduated from Bangor High School and Beal Business School, but had been a long-time resident of Bucksport. She belonged to various organizations and was a member of the Elm Street Congressional Church. She was a frequent visitor of the Senior Center, which she enjoyed. She leaves a son, Fred Palmer, Jr. and his wife, Carolyn of Westford, MA. She also had two grandsons, Christopher Palmer and his wife, Beth, of Boxford, MA, and Michael Palmer and his wife, Melissa of Mashpee, MA, as well as three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter, Owen and David Palmer of Boxford, MA, and Grant and Quinn Palmer of Mashpee, MA. Genevra was predeceased by two sons, Michael Palmer and Theodore Chute, her husband, William Charlie Chute and sister, Phyllis Kyros.

A memorial service will be held at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm Street, Bucksport, on November 18 at 11:00 a.m. The family request no flowers or memorial gifts. There will be a private grave side service at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Bangor in the spring.

CASCO -- Gloria Peace Day Chute passed away peacefully at Ledgewood Manor in Windham on Thursday, April 12, 2012. Gloria was born in Worcester, Mass., in 1930, the daughter of Lillian Jones Day and Sherwin Maxwell Day Sr. She moved to Casco as a little girl. Gloria followed her husband on many adventures but returned to Casco in 1977.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Merton Chute of Casco; six children; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; her brother, S. Maxwell Day of Indianapolis; many cousins; nieces, nephews and much loved in-laws and friends.

Gloria Chute is best known locally as the founder/owner, along with her husband Edward, of Chute's Country Tea Room of Casco and Chute's Family Restaurant in Windham before her retirement in the early 90s. She is also remembered by many for her personal investment in their lives in prayer and in practical caring.

There will be a celebration of life for Gloria on May 19, at the Naples Gymnasium on the Village Green in Naples at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home, Casco.

TEWKSBURY: Dorothy A. (Chute) Slater, age 83, a Tewksbury resident for over 30 years, formerly of Woburn, passed away at the Life Care Center of the Merrimack Valley in Billerica on Monday, October 16, 2017.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert B. Slater, who passed away on January 7, 2000.

Born in Malden on November 19, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruth (Schwarzer) Chute.

Dorothy was raised in Everett and attended Everett schools.

Dorothy worked for many years at Bickford�s Restaurant in Burlington and the McManus Restaurant in Boston.

She enjoyed reading, flower gardening, and hosting family dinner parties.

She is survived by her children, Robert J. Slater and his wife Debra of Orangeville, CA, William P. Slater and his wife Kembra of Granite Bay, CA, Debra E. Ennis and her husband Ford of Tewksbury, Robin B. Romano and her husband Joseph of Lexington, April H. Rae and her husband Scott of Bedford, and Pamela J. Gray of Methuen; siblings, William Chute and his wife Nancy of Bar Harbor, ME, and Judith Hough of Pittsburgh, KN; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Dorothy was the sister of the late Linda Harriman.

Calling hours are Thursday, Oct. 19 from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. SEBAGO - Rae Carol Chute, 81, beloved wife and mother, died on Friday, June 2, 2017, at the Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Mich., while visiting friends.

Rae was born on Jan. 21, 1936, in Portland, and raised by Olan and Alma Jones, of Scaborough. She was a graduate of Scarborough High School. She was married to Ivan Chute since 1968, and was a longtime resident of Sebago. Rae had a contagious laugh and a compassionate heart that assured others of her genuine love. She dedicated her life to her family, and to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was predeceased by her parents, Olan and Alma Jones; and her first husband, Richard Dale.

She is survived by her sister, Jean White; her brothers, Richard Bryant and David Bryant; her husband, Ivan Chute; her son, Mark Dale; and her daughters, Michelle Kennie, April Brown, and Heidi Otte. Her 11 grandchildren live in Maine and Tennessee, all of whom brought great joy to her in her later years.

Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, at Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Rd., Casco. Obituary, Robert Henry ("Bob") Chute

Tampa, Florida- Mr. Robert "Bob" Chute, 77, of Florida and Peabody, loving companion of Gloria Swalgen, passed away peacefully, at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Florida.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Roland Sr. and Sarah Chute, longtime owners of Chute's Candy in Salem.

An honorably discharged veteran, Bob proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy.

Prior to his retirement he had been employed by the H.P. Hood Company for many years. Following his retirement Bob and Gloria traveled the world and maintained homes in Peabody and Florida.

Surviving Bob in addition to his companion of 40 years, Gloria, he is survived by his children Debbie, Joseph and Craig, his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Fawson & her husband Kevin of Danvers and his nephew, Jim Swalgen and his wife Stefanie of Hookset, N.H., his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Shirley Chute and Roland Chute, Jr.

Arrangements: A visitation will be held in The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (on Salem Common) Salem, on Wednesday November 26th 2014 from 4 to 6:30 P.M. with a service to follow at 6:30 P.M. David Hill Chute, age 76, of Norwalk, entered eternal rest on Monday, August 29, 2011 at Norwalk Hospital, with his wife at his side. Born in Washington DC, the son of Charleton and Pearl (Hill) Chute, he was the beloved husband of Carmen Leonor (Bonilla) Chute for over 50 years. David served in the US Army during peacetime, and was a graduate of Bridgeport Engineering Institute. Over the years, he worked for Barnes Engineering, Remington Consumer Products and Clairol. He enjoyed computers, music, photography, travel and his parrots Pablo and Koko.

In addition to his loving wife Carmen, he is survived by his sister Diana Elias of New Milford and his nieces and nephews: Heather McGeorge of Norwalk, Stephen McGeorge and his wife Barbara of Hampton, VA, William McGeorge and his wife Fadia of Trumbull, David McGeorge of E.Providence, RI and James McGeorge of New Milford as well as 5 grand-nephews and nieces.

Barry W. Chute, Age 55, of Munson Twp, died September 22, 2017. Born April 27, 1962 in Ft. Bragg, NC, to the late Larry and Marie (nee: Holman) Chute. Barry retired The United States Air Force after spending 20 years of service. He was a fan of NASCAR, aviation, especially air planes and he loved to draw and paint. His greatest joy was spending time with his children. He is survived by his wife of 7 years, Leslie (nee: McClintock) Chute, children Christopher, Jeremy and Peyton Chute, granddaughter Aliyah, his siblings Vicci Fix of NC, Larry (Debby) Stanfield of SC, Robin (Jim) Frey of FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenneth Chute.

Private family services were held. Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington D.C.

U.S. Veteran. CHUTE, Gene Vincent, 83, of Lebanon, died Sunday December 20, 2015. Born April 4, 1932 in Dubuque, Iowa to Kenneth and Marvel (nee: Pearson) Chute, he was a US Army Veteran. A graduate of Western Michigan University and the Cranbrook Art Academy, he was an art teacher for Lebanon High School for 31 years. A charter member of St. Patricks Episcopal Church, he was also a past board member for the Warren County Historical Society and Lebanon Conservancy. He was a member of the Lebanon Schools Hall of Fame. Preceded in death by his parents, survivors include his wife of 56 years, Rosemary (nee: Riddering) Chute of Lebanon, one son, Christopher (Okyon) Chute of Florence, KY, one daughter, Anne Chute of Lebanon, and two grandchildren, Morley and Nicholas Chute. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 7th, Noon - 1:00 PM, with a memorial service immediately following, all at the St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, Lebanon. Memorials requested to the St. Patricks Episcopal Art Fund or to the Otterbein Hospice. Arrangements by Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home, Lebanon.

Most records reflect a wife with the name of "Clara" or "Clara Ruth" Watts. While it is possible that Jerome married two women with the given name of Clara, it is also possible that "Kelly" was the name of a first husband for Clara. Her burial record reflects the last name of "Chute", so it is unlikely that she married a man named "Kelly" later in life.

This Thomas may be a step-son of Philip, a product of the Ensing-Masters marriage, although the 1530 Visitation of Kent describes him as "the eldest son, died sans issue". He appears in these records of the College of Arms as a "Chute". Probably died quite young, as his younger brother was also named Thomas.

"AMOS STICKNEY, the second son of William and Elizabeth, was born in England about 1635, m. in Newbury, June 24, 1663, Sarah Morse. After his death she m. 2d in Newbury, Dec. 17, 1684, Stephen Acreman. She died there Dec. 7, 1711. Amos Stickney came with his father to Rowley, and was given by him the trade of a "Weaver, which tradition says, he learnt from John Pearson, who Johnson (in his "Wonder Working Providence") says, had set up in Rowley before 1643, "the first fulling-mill in America," and according to Governor Winthrop this town exceeded all others in the manufactory of cloth. A ruler made from a cedar tenter post, brought from England and used in the construction of this Mill, is now in the possession of the author.

Amos Stickney soon after the completion of his trade established himself at Newbury, an adjoining town, as a "Weaver, his father having (as is stated in his Will) "not only given him a trade, but some part of the estate toward his settling there."

On the homestead and freehold which Amos Stickney purchased of Solomon Keyes, he lived and died. In his Will dated Aug. 27, 1678, he conveyed his house &c, after his wife Sarah's decease, to his son John, [19] who in his Will dated May 13, 1727, gave it to his wife Mary during her life, then to his son Amos. Amos Stickney [58] in his nuncupative Will, sworn to Nov. 21, 1763, left this house to his son John, [190] who disposed of it about 1772, after its having been in the family over one hundred and nine years, and removed to Epping, N. H., where he died. This estate in 1845 was the residence of Moses Coffin, and was the next house to that occupied by Capt. Richard, Enoch, and Joseph Jaques, on what was once called South street, but in 1845, Parker street. It is sometimes erroneously called West India Lane.

Enlisted with the 82nd Battn. (Replacment) But served with the 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles (2nd CMR) C.E.F. During the First World War of 1914-18. He enlisted at Calgary Alberta on Nov. 30th 1915 at age 25. He listed his occupation as "Rancher" He served as the Company Signal man. Some time after his war service he moved out west to British Columbia where on Sept. 9th 1964 he died at age 74 and was buried in the Old Murrayville Cemetery.

Obituary, John Chute Ellis, Published 14 Aug 1926

MR. JOHN CHUTE ELLIS. The death is announced of Mr. John Chute Ellis, eldest son of the late Captain Ellis, and a brother of the late Mr. T. C. Ellis, Benara, Mount Gambier. His death was not unexpected, and occurred in Hobart, Tasmania. The late Mr. Ellis was born near Adelaide 79 years ago, but as a boy he went with his father to England. On leaving school he joined the 13th Huzzars as a Lieutenant. He went to Canada with his regiment on active service, and on his return to England he obtained his discharge from the Army. He then returned to Australia, and lived with the late Mr. T. C. Ellis at Benara for a time, and later went to New Zealand, and took up Merrivale Station in the South Island, a property he worked for many years. On leaving Merrivale, he purchased Parknook property in Tasmania, on which he resided for several years. Mr. Ellis paid periodical visits to Mount Gambier, his last visit being about three years ago. Mr. Ellis leaves a widow and two daughters, Gwendoline and Winifred. The former is married, and resides with her husband in Nigeria, Africa, and the latter at their home in Tasmania. The only son, Lionel, died when a boy of about 12 years of age.

Obituary, 2nd Lieutenant John Chute Ellis

Mr. T. C. Ellis of Benara, Mount Gambier has received news from the War: Office, London, that his son, Lieut. John Chute Ellis, R.F.A., who was previously reported dangerously wounded in France, died on June 6.

Lieut. Ellis was the third son of Mr. T. C Ellis, and was born in 1886, at Benara. He was educated at the Rev. Hartley William's High School, Mount Gambier, and afterwards at Christ College, Christchurch, NewZealand, where he was one of the foremost scholars and athletes. He then studied at the Otagb University for the medical profession and subsequently proceeded to the London Hospital, where he took the degrees of M.R.C.S. and L.R.C.P. When he returned to Australia, a few years ago, he entered upon pastoral pursuits at Eli, Elwah, and Burrabogie Stations, Hay, New South Wales. Soon after the outbreak of the war he arranged with the London Hospital for a medical commission, and proceeded to England. On reaching the old country, however, he obtained a commission in the Royal Field Artillery, and since then served at the front, with the exception of one short interval which he spent instructing in gunnery at St. John's Wood Barracks. His death is deeply regretted at Mount Gambier, where he was much liked, by his former companions and schoolmates. Lieut. Ellis was not married.

Probate has been granted of the will of Lieutenant John Chute Ellis, R.F.A., 10th Brigade, formerly of Burrabogie Station, Hay, grazier, who died on June 6, from wounds received whilst he was on active service. Testator appointed his brothers, Thomas Chute Ellis, jun. and William Norton Chute Ellis, executors and trustees of his will. The net value of the estate is �34,769 3b 3d, all, except �20 personalty, consists of testator's interest in the partnership of Ellis Brothers, in Burrabogie, Eli Elwah, and Bremeran stations.

Lloyd Delamere Brent, manager of Barrabogie Station, was left a legacy of �600, additional on his continuing in the position till December 31, 1918. This sum is to be supplemented by another �500, if he is still manager at the end of 1920. The residue of the real residuary and personal estate is bequeathed to testator's two brothers, with remainder to their children.

Probate, John Ellis

The following appears in the Home News of May 16 : "The will and two codicils of Mr. John Ellis, formerly of Kelvedon Hall, Essex, but late of Kempton Park, near Sunbury, was proved on April 16, by Alexander Lang , Elder and Frederick Charles Maitland, the acting executors, the personal property being sworn under �140,000. The testator bequeaths to his son Thomas Chute Ellis �50,000 altogether, and to his son William Chute Ellis �30,000 altogether, and to each of his younger children �10,000; and among the other legacies there is �400 to each of his executors. The residue of testator's personal estate and the produce of his real estate abroad, directed to be sold, is to be invested in real proporty in this country, and the same, together with all his real estate, is devised to his son Chaloner Chute Ellis for life, with remainder to his first and other sons successively.

Former Postmaster Dies
A native of Bear River in Digby County, Harry moved west to the Camrose District in 1918. He first worked on a survey crew, and later joined the National Fruit Company until 1925 when he purchased a store on 142nd Street in Edmonton. In conjunction with the store, he was appointed Postmaster of the Sub-Post Office #23. He later moved the store and post office to 149th Street. He was awarded the 25 year gold medal of service from the postal service and eventually retired in 1953. "Mr. Chute often recalled the days when the hitching posts in front of his store were crowded with tethered Indian ponies from nearby reserves"

In fact I found a wedding announcement from when Frank and Mary (Mamie Connell) were married and it said Zebulon was his best man. The wedding took place in the home of my great great aunt's house, Pat and Anna Connell house, in May of 1894 in Rochester, MN. I look forward to sharing information.
