He d. 1852, aged 43. (Deacon Jonas Rice d. 1861, aged 79. His wife, Dorothy Balsor, d. 1861, aged 79). She m., 2nd, John, son of Silas Rice (his third wife); and he d. June 25, 1877, aged 91."

John Rice was born circa 1786 at Hillsburgh, Digby Co, Nova Scotia. He was the son of Silas Rice and Sarah Kniffen. John Rice was baptized on 6 March 1791 at St Lukes Anglican Church, Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia. John Rice married 1st Mary Hardy, daughter of Aaron Hardy Jr., and Eunice Gaskill; your author notes that Mary Hardy, daughter of Aaron Hardy, was mentioned as Marcy Wetherspoon in her father's will in 1809, probated April 1810. John Rice married 2nd Margaret Ann Balcom, widow of Joseph Potter, daughter of John Balcom and Ellen Gilmore, after 1829. John Rice married 3rd Elizabeth Chute, widow of John Balser Rice, daughter of John Chute and Abigail Jones, circa 1852 at Annapolis County, Nova Scotia. John Rice died in 1877. He and Mary Hardy resided circa 1810 at Hillsburgh, Digby Co, Nova Scotia.
