Last Will and Testament of Sine Christensen
I, Sine Christensen,of Alta, in the County of Buena Vista, State of Iowa, being of legal age and of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make, publish and declare this, my last will and testament, in the manner and form following,
First. After payment of my just debts and funeral expenses, I give unto my husband, Christen Christensen, in lieu of his dower and in full payment of his share in my property, the sum of fifty dollars ($50.00) which shall be paid to him by my daughter Lizzie K. Davenport and she shall also provide for him during his life time in her home.
Second. To my daughter Mary C. Iversen I give the sum of three hundred dollars ($300.00) which amount shall be paid to her by my daughter Lizzie K. Davenport with one year from the date of my death. If at the time of my death I should not have enough money to pay all my doctor bills and funeral expenses, one-fourth (1/4) of the above expenses shall be deducted from the above bequest.
Third. To my son Christopher Christensen I give, devise and bequest lot number eighteen (18) in block number one (1) in Leanders Addition to the town of Alta, Iowa, and he shall also have a bedstead with all bedding for his own use and at any time he desires to remove it he may do so. In case I do not have sufficient money on hand to pay my doctor's bill and funeral expenses, he shall be required to pay one-fourth (1/4) of the same which shall be a lien on the above described property.
Fourth. I give unto my son Martinus Christensen a bedstead with all bedding, and as I have before furnished him with $200.00 to purchase lots numbered 15 and 16 in block number one (1) in Leanders Addition to Alta, I desire that he shall pay one fourth (1/4) of my doctors bills and funeral expenses, if I should not have sufficient money on hand to pay same.
Fifth. I give unto my grandson, Edward A. Iversen, the sum of fifty dollars ($50.00) which shall be paid to him when he becomes of age and shall be placed at interest within one year from the date of my death. This amount is to be paid by my daughter Lizzie K. Davenport.
Sixth. I give unto my daughter, Lizzie K. Davenport, all of my household furniture and furnishings (except two beds and bedding before mentioned), two Jersey cows, one Jersey calf, two sheep and all their increase. Also, lots numbered one (1) and two (2) in block number four (4) in Leanders Addition to Alta, Iowa, and a parcel of land in the northwest quarter of the northwest quarter of section 26 township 91 north, range 38 west of the P. M., which I bought of C. W. Garberson and deed for same is recorded in Book "G" of Deeds, page 116-117 of the records of Buena Vista County, Iowa.
She shall pay to her father, Christen Christensen the sum of $50.00 and provide for him at her home as long as he shall live. And to her sister Mary C. Iversen the sum of $300.00 less expenses, if any, and $50.00 to Edward A. Iversen which amounts shall be paid within one year from the date of my death and all of said amounts shall be a lien upon the property bequeathed to her until they are paid.
I hereby appoint my daughter Lizzie K. Davenport and her husband Golman Z. Davenport joint executors of this my last will and testament, and their bond be fixed at $500.00.
Given as my last will and testament at Alta, Iowa, this 5th day of August, 1904.
