Buena Vista County Wills and Probate
Last Will and Testament of Edward Miles, Sr.


I, Edward Miles, Sr., of Coon Township, Buena Vista County, Iowa, being of sound and disposing mind, do make, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament hereby revoking all wills by me at any time heretofore made.

I direct that my just debts and funeral expenses be first paid out of my estate.

All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal and mixed, of which I may die seized or possessed or to which I may be entitled, I will devise and bequeath as follows:

To my beloved son, Edward M. Miles, I give and bequeath and devise the sum of two thousand and five hundred dollars ($2,500) of my estate.

To my beloved daughter, Anna Mary Miles, I give and bequeath and devise the sum of two thousand and five hundred dollars ($2,500) of my estate.

To my beloved son, William J. Miles, I give and bequeath the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000) out of my estate.

To my beloved son, Frank W. Miles, I give and bequeath the sum of six hundred dollars ($600) out of my estate.

To my beloved granddaughter, Anna Rambo, I give and bequeath the sum of twenty-five dollars ($25) out of my estate.

All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate of which I may died seized I will, devise and bequeath to Edward M. Miles, William J. Miles, Frank W. Miles, and Anna Mary Miles, my sons and daughter, to be divided equally among them.

I hereby appoint my son, William J. Miles, of Newell, Buena Vista County, Iowa, executor of this my last will and testament. I hereby authorize my executor to see and dispose of such of my estate as may be in his judgment be advisable to raise sufficient means to pay off my debts and the legacies name in the his will, directing that he does not resort to real estate until the personal property is finally exhausted, unless in my executor's best judgment he thinks it would be better to sell the real estate first. I leave this matter solely to my executor's best judgment.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 29th day of January, 1894.
