Pasfield St., who was injured about 10:40 p.m. Sunday in a two-car collision, died of head injuries at 8:40 a.m. Monday at St. John�s Hospital. TARR DROVE his car north onto old Rochester Road and South Grand Avenue from Groth Street, according to Coroner W. C. Telford, and the Tarr car and a car driven by Harold Myers, 25, of Hammond, Ind., collided. Myers was ticketed for having an improper driver�s license. An inquest into Tarr�s death will be held, according to Telford. Nancy Farmer, 16, of 641 N. 4th St., a passenger in the Tarr car, remained a patient at St. John�s Monday for treatment of injuries suffered in the collision. Another passenger, Mickey Cronister, 18, of R.R. 7, was released after treatment. MYERS WAS treated at Memorial Hospital and his passenger, Thomas Grant, 24, of 1201 � E. Laurel St., was treated at St. John�s and released. MR. Amos Ave., a retired coal miner, died at 12:40 p.m. yesterday in Memorial hospital. He was 80 years old. Mr. Tarr was born in Devonshire, England, and came to this U.S. in 1892. He first resided for about one year in Petersburg and then moved to Springfield where he since resided. His wife, the former Bertha Baker, died about 15 years ago. Mr. Tarr was employed for a number of years at the old Franz slaughter house west of town before he became a coal miner. He was employed for many years at mine 12 and was a member of the Progressive Mine Workers of America. He is survived by seven sons, Edward J. and Carl H., both of Pawnee; George W., William, John G., Fred W., and Elmer, all of Springfield; three daughters, Mrs. Lilly Hawkins, Pontiac, Mich.; Mrs. Hilda Poetcher, Springfield; Mrs. Dorothy Roehl, Draden Plains, Mich., 31 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Obit of John Poetcher: State Journal Register, 10-21-45, p1: �AGED MAN DIES IN FALL FROM TRUCK: John Poetcher is victim of Accident: John Poetcher, 75, of 1129 North Amos avenue, was killed, apparently instantly, at 5 p.m. yesterday, when he fell from a moving truck at Calhoun and Amos avenues. Coroner W. E. Dragoo quoted Poetcher�s son-in-law, George Tarr, 220 North Amos avenue, driver of the truck, as saying that the aged man was seated on a barrel at the rear of the truck bed, and fell from the vehicle to the pavement on his head when the truck turned a corner. Poetcher, a retired coal miner, was taken to Memorial hospital where he was pronounced dead. Mr. Poetcher was born Dec. 5, 1869, in Austria, and had been a resident of Springfield since 1909. He married Marie Kenney, June 13, 1903. Surviving are his wife, Marie; a son, Frank, and three daughters, Mrs. Edith Ragland, Mrs. Cecelia Tarr, and Mrs. Dorothy Conklin, all of Springfield, and eight grandchildren.
