RESOLUTION NO. 203858

  A RESOLUTION SETTING ASIDE AND DEDICATING A PORTION OF CALVARY CEMETERY IN THE CITY OF SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, FOR A PUBLIC PARK, AND NAMING SAID PARK "CALVARY PIONEER MEMORIAL PARK."

     WHEREAS, pursuant to Sections 8825-8829 of the Health and Safety Code of the State of California, a portion of Calvary Cemetery was abandoned to the City of San Diego; and

     WHEREAS, Resolution No. 193940 found all of the copings, improvements and embellishments located in Calvary Cemetery in the City of San Diego to be a threat and danger to the health, safety, comfort and welfare of the public and provided for their removal and the abandonment of said cemetery as a place of future interrment; and

     WHEREAS, all necessary and practicable work to accomplish their removal has been completed; and

     WHEREAS, it is the desire of the people of the City of San Diego to set aside and dedicate forever a portion of said Calvary Cemetery, hereinafter described, for public use and enjoyment as and for a public park to be used by all the public as a Pioneer Memorial Park; NOW, THEREFORE,

     BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of The City of San Diego, as follows:

     1. That the hereinafter described real property be, and the same is hereby set aside and dedicated in perpetuity as a public park to be used by all the public as a Pioneer Memorial Park.

     2. That the hereinafter described real property be, and the same is hereby named "Calvary Pioneer Memorial Park."

     3. That the real property so dedicated and named is described as follows:

  All that certain tract in North Florence Heights, in the City of San Diego, County of San Diego, State of California,according to map thereof No. 634, filed June 9, 1890, in the office of the San Diego County Recorder, which is designated on said Map as Catholic Cemetery.

     4. That the City Clerk of said City be, and he is hereby directed to file for record in the office of the Recorder of the County of San Diego, State of California a certified copy of this resolution.
