This Indenture
made this twenty third day of May in the Year of our Lord Christ one thousand
seven hundred and fifty four by and between John Cook the one Part and Francis
Clement of the other part both of Amelia County Witnesseth that the
Said John Cook for and in Consideration of the Sum of one hundred Pounds
Current Money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the Said Francis
Clement at and before the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents the
Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and every Part thereof
doth Clearly Ecquit and discharge the said Francis
Clement his heirs Executors Administrators and every of them by these
Presents have given Granted alienated bargained Sold Gratified and Confirmed
and by these Presents doth Give Grant Alianate bargain Sell release and
Confirm unto the said Francis Clement
on Tract or Parcel of Land Containing two hundred acres be the same more
or less according to the bounds situate lying and being in the County aforesaid
and bounded as followeth Begining at John Clements corner on George Hams
line thence along the said Clements line across a Glade to Jacob Seays line
thence Down the said Seays line to his Corner thence by a line of marked
Trees to George Hams line thence along the said Hams to the Corner it begun
at With all and Singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the
said Francis Clement and his heirs
to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Francis
Clement his his heirs and assigns forever and the sd. John Cook for
himself his heirs Exrs. and administrators doth Covenant and Grant to and
with the said Francis Clement
that it shall and may be Lawful to and from Said Francis
Clement his heirs and Assigns from time to time and at all times forever
hereafter Peaceably and Quietly have hold occupy and possess and Enjoy the
said Land and Premises and the right and title of him the said John Cook
his hiers Executors Administrators or assigns or any other Persons Lawfully
Claiming or to Claim in by from or under them or any of them and the said
John Cook for himself and his heirs the said Land & Premises as before
intended mentioned and Expressed unto the said Francis
Clement and his heirs and all Claiming or to Claim in by from or under
them or any of them shall and will forever warrant and Defend by these Presents
In witness whereof the said John Cook hath hereunto put his hand and Fix'd
his seal the day and Year first above written
Memorandum that on the twenty third Day of May in the Year of our Lord Christ one thousand Seven hundred and fifty four Peasable & Quiet Possession of the within Land And Premises within Granted and sold was had and taken by the within named John Cook and by him Delivered to the within mentioned Francis Clement as the Usal Symballs of Livery and Seisen according to force form and Effect of the within Deed
May the twenty third 1754 Then Received of John Cook the sum of one hundred Pounds Current money of Virginia it being the consideration for Land and Premises within Granted and sold
At a Court held for Amelia County the 23d day of May 1754 John Cook presented and acknoweldges this his Deed with livery and Seisen & Receip endorsed unto Francis Clements and ordered to be Recorded. Judith the Wife of the said John being first privately Examined and Volluntarily assenting thereto Relinquished her Right of Dower in the Land conveyed by the said Deed
