This Indenture
made this 20th day of October 1817 between Joseph Martin and Betty his wife
of Barren County and State of Kentucky of the one part and Vachel
Clemments of the County and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth
that the said Martin for and in consideration of six shillings to them in
hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained &
sold & by these presents doth bargane sell and Convey to the said Clements
and his Heirs forever a certain tract or parcel of Land Containing twenty
Acres lying and being in the County aforesaid and bounded as follows, To
wit, Beginning at a black Oak thence S10 W 20 poles to a hickory and White
Oak corner to Dennis Kellys 200 acre survey thence with his line North 80
W 160 poles to his corner a post Oak thence to a black Walnut and Poplar
in a Hollow thence S75 E 96 poles to the Beginning with its Appurtenances
to have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances
to the only proper use and Behoof of the aforesaid Vachal
Clements and his Heirs forever and the said Joseph Martin doth hereby
covenant and agree with the said Clements
that he will forever Warrant and defend the aforesaid bargained premises
to the said Clements and his Heirs
from him and his Heirs and all persons Claiming by through or under him
but its expresly understood by the contracting partys that if the aforesaid
tract or parcel of Land or any part thereof should be lost by a better or
pryer Claim the said Martin is not to be liable for the loss In Witness
whereof the said Martin and wife hath hereunto set their hands & seals
the day and year first above Written

This Indenture from Joseph Martin & Betsy his wife to Vachel
Clements was on the day of the hereof acknowledged before me in Office
by the said Joseph Martin & wife to be their act and Deed she the said
Bitsy being by me privily examined apart from her said husband relinquished
her right to Dower in the Land specified in said Indenture & thereupon
the same was entered of Record
