This Indenture made this the Twenty fourth day of May in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Eight Between Stephen Clement and Sarah his Wife of the Couny of Bedford of the one part and Thomas Clerk of the same County of the other part Witnesseth that the said Stephen Clement and Sarah his Wife for and in Consideration of the Just and full Sum of one Hundred pounds Current Money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the sd. Thomas Clerk the Receipt whereof the said Stephen Clement and Sarah his wife doth hereby Acknowledge hath given Granted Bargained and Sold and by these presents doth give Grant Bargain sell Deliver and Confirm to him the sd. Thomas Clerk his Heirs and Assigns forever one Certain Tract or parcel of land Situate Lying and being in the County of Bedford Containing one Hundred and Twenty four Acres Lying on both sides of Oter River as by a patent Granted to John Abstant Dated the Seventeenth day of May one Thousand seven Hundred and fifty nine Referance thereunto being had will at Large Appeare Together with all and Singular the priviledges and Appertenances thereunto belonging or in any wise Appertaining to have and to hold the above sold Land and premises with all the Appertenances unto the said Thomas Clark his Heirs and Assigns forever to the only proper Use and Behoof of him the said Thomas Clerk his Heirs and Assigns forever against him the said Stephen Clement his Heirs or Assigns and against the Calim and Demand of all other persons Whatsoever Shall and Will by these presents Warrant and forever will Defend in Witness whereof he the said Stephen Clement and Sarah his wife hath hereunto set Their hands and Seals the day and Year first above Written Signed Sealed

Memorandom that on the day and Year first within Mentioned Quiet and Peacable Possession of the within Mention Land and Premises was given and made by Stephen Clement and Sarah his Wife To Thomas Clerk in presents of the Subscribing Witnesses

This Indenture and the Memorandum of Livery of Seisen thereon Indorsed were Acknowledged by Stephen Clement and Sarah his wife party thereto (the said Sarah having been first Privilly Examined according to Law Relinquished her Right of Dower in the Land and premises Conveyed by the said Indenture) all which are ordered to Be Recorded
