This Indenture made this 29th day of October one
thousand eight hundred and seven between Stephen
Butterworth and Rachal his
wife of the district of Greenville and State of South carolina
of the one part and Jesse Edds of the County of Campbell and state of
Virginia of the other part Witnesseth that the said Stephen
Butterworth and Rachal his
wife in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to them in hand
paid by the said Jesse Edds at or before the sealing and delivery of these
presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained and
sold and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto the said Jesse Edds
his heirs and assigns a certain Lott Tract or parcel of land lying
and being in the County of Campbell on seneca Creek it being the
Lott or part of Benjamin Butterworth decd.
land allotted to the said Stephen
Butterworth by the commissioners appointed by
the worshipful Court of Campbell to divide and allot the land belonging
to Benjamin Butterworth deceased To have and to hold the said Land
and premises unto the said Jesse Edds his heirs and assigns forever and
the said Stephen Butterworth
and Rachal his wife for themselves and their heirs doth warrant and defend
the title of said land and premises against the claim or claims of all
persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Stephen
Butterworth and Rachael
his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals this day and date above
written.
At a Court held for Campbell County February 8 1808 This Indenture was
proved with respect to Stephen Butterworth
by the oaths of John M. Gordon and Jesse Harvey two of the witnesses thereto
subscribed and at a Court held for the said County the 13 day of June
following the same was further proved by the oath of Epaphisctitus Harroway
and Ordered to be recorded
