In the name of God. Amen. I William
Clement of the County of Campbell and State of Virginia be weak in
body, but of sound mind, for which I thank god. and being assirous
to dispose of by will what estate it pleased god to bless me with having
made several advancements something like equal to all of my children it
is my will and desire that my estate after my decease shall be divided
in the following manner It is my will that my negroes after my decease
shall all be divided according to their valuation into three equal parts,
one parth of which I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin Clement and
his heirs forever. Another part to my daughter, Paulina Moore which I
give to her and her heirs forever. The other part I give and bequeath
to such children of my deceased daughter Sally Martin as may be living
at the same time of my death to be equally divided between them which
part I give to them and their heirs forever. It is my will and desire
that my land and the whole of my personal estate except negroes and such
thing as are herein after specially divised be sold by my Executor and
the money arising from the sale thereof to be divided into three equal
parts. One part of which I give and bequath to my son Benjamin
Clement and his heirs forever. another part of which I give and bequeath
to my daughter Paulina Moore and her heirs forever. the other part I give
and bequeath to such children of my deceased daughter Sally Martin as
may be living at the time of my death to be equally divided between them
which part I give to them and their heirs forever. It is my will and desire
that all the money I may have at the time of my death shall be divided
into three equal parts one part of which I give and bequeath to my son
Benjamin Clement and his heirs forever Another part of which I give and
bequath to my daughter Paulina Moore and her heirs forever. the
other part of which I give and bequeath to such children of my deceased
daughter Sally Martin as may be living at the time of my death to be equally
divided between them which I give to them and their heirs Forever I give
and bequath all my beds and bed furniture which I may be possessed
of at the time of my death to my Son Benjamin Clement and my daughter
Paulina Moore which I give unto them to be equally divided between them
I give and bequeath unto my son Benj. Clement and his heirs forever and
his heirs forever my cupboard Silver Table Spoons and Tea Spoon I
give and bequath to my daughter Paulina Moore and to her heirs
forever my blue painted cupboard a cooking glass and a large tin water
and brass Kettle. I leave to my brother Alexander
Clement as a memorial my large arm chair and two large bowls. and
I hereby appoint and make my son Benjamin Clement Executor of this my
last will and testament. witness I have herunto set my name and
affixed my seals this 11 day of October in the year of our lord one thousand
eight hundred and forty one

Codicil to the above annexed will
I give and bequeath to my daughter Paulina Moore two window curtains,
one Iron Tea Kettle and a half dozen knives and forks & glass pitcher
I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin Clement two window curtains and
half dozen knives and forks and a black walnut Bureau Containing ten drawers
witness I have hereunto set my name and affixed my seal, this 11 day of
October in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and forty one

At a Court held for Campbell County Jun 12th 1843. The foregoing last
will and testament and codicil thereto annexed of Wm
Clement dec. was this day presented in Court and proven by the oaths
of James D. Candler and Henry Candler subscribing witnesses thereto and
ordered to be Recorded. and on the motion of Benja Clement the exor of
in said will named, who made oath and together with Adam
Clement Alex Clement Jas
Russell and Wm. A Clement his securities entered into and acknowledged
their bond in the penalty of eight thousand dollars conditioned as the
law directs, certificate is granted him for obtaining probat of
the said in due form of Law.
