A Deed of Trust from Green C Clemons to A Forbus
registered January 2 day 1834
This Indenture made and entered into this 2nd day of January 1834 between
John Forbis of the first part Green Clements of the second part and Arthur
Forbus of the third part all of the State of Tennessee and County of Lawrence
Witnesseth that whereas the said Green C Clements Stands Justly Indebted
to the said John Forbes in the sum of one hundred and Sixty dollars now
due and owing to the said John Forbes in the Sum of one hundred and sixty
dollars wherefore they have agreed by and between themselves to appoint
said Arthur Forbus to act as their Trustee and the said Arther Forbus
for and in consideration of the sum of eight dollars to him in hand paid
by the said Clements and Forbes agrees to carry their intention into effect
wherefore The said Clements has this day sold and delivered over to the
said Arther Forbes the following property one new wagon and six pair of
gear four work Horses one Mare & Colt two beds and furniture one Cupboard
one Clock 10 Chears one loom one Mans saddle one Womans saddle two Sows
and pigs one little wagon and gearing one Trunk and one chest one table
one bedstead one looking glass and one stand cruits and sofa a Set of
saddlers tools one flax wheel and one old woman saddle now it is understood
and agreed between the parties that at any time after the 4th of this
Instant that the said Arther Forbes on the said Forbes giving ten days
notice of time and place the before described property to the highest
bidder for cash in hand and pay off said debt of one hundred and sixty
dollars and the ballance if any pay over to the said Clements or his legal
representatives and the said Clements further agrees that if said property
on sale thereof Should fail to pay the aforesaid Sum of one hundred and
Sixty dollars he will be bound for the residue thereof In Witness whereof
we have hereunto subscribed our hands and affixed our Seals the day and
date above written

Personally appeared before me M. H. Buchanan Clerk of the County of said
County Josiah Curtis & William P Curtis Subscribing witnesses to the
within deed of Trust after being sworn according to law say they are acquainted
with the Makers of the same and that they acknowledged the same to be
their act and deed in their presence on this day given under my hand at
office 4th January 1834.
