This Indenture made this Twenty six Day of January the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Seventy four Between John Goad & Margret his wife of the County of Pittsylvnia of the one part and Benj.a Clement of the Same County of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Goad and Margaret his wife doth hereby Acknowledge hath Given Granted Bargained & Sold and by these presents doth Give grant Bargain Sell Deliver and Confirm to him the said Benjamin Clement his Heirs and assigns forever One Certain Tract or parcell of Land Situate lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania Containing fifty acres more or less Beginning at a post oak on his Patun line thence up the said line to Wm. Mackings Corner red Oak thence along Mackings line to a red oak Corner on the said line thence a Dividing line to the first Station being part of a Patent Granted to the said Goad the Seventh day of July One thousand Seven Hundred & Sixty three Reference thereto being had will at large appear Together with all & Singular the Priviledges and appurtenances thereunto belonging and any wise appurtaining To Have and to hold the abovesaid Land and Premises with all the appurtenances unto the said Benj.a Clement his Heirs & assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Benj.a Clement his Heirs and assigns forever against him the said John Goad his Heirs or assigns and against the Claim and Demand of all other Persons whatsoever shall and will by these Presents Warrant and forever will Defend In Witness whereof he the said John Goad and Margaret his wife hath hereunto set their hands & Seals the Day Year first above Written

Memorandum That on the day and year first within mentioned quiet and Peacable possession of the within mentioned Land & Premises was Given and made by John Goad and Margaret his wife to Benj.a Clement

At a Court held for Pittsylvania County on the 27th Day of Jany 1774
This Indenture tgether with the memorandum of Livery and Seizen was Proved by the oaths of the Witnesses thereto to be the Acts and Deed of the above Named John Goad and Margret wife of the said Goad being Privily Examined as the Law directs and Relinquished her right of Dower in and to the said land Conveyed by her said Husband to the above named Benj.a Clement & the same was Ordered to be Recorded
