This Indenture Made this 9th Day of Sep.r in the year of our Lord Christ One thousand seven hundred & Seventy nine Between Thomas Carlton Jun.r & Martha his Wife of the County of Mecklenburg of the one part and Isaac Clements of the County of Pittsylvania of the Other part Witnesseth that the said Thomas Charlton & Martha his Wife for and in consideration of the Sum of One hundred & ten Pounds Current Money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Isaac Clements at or before the Signing & Delivering of these presents the Receipt whereof they doth hereby Acknowledge hath given granted Bargained Sold Aliened Enfeoffed & Confirmed & by these presents doth give, grant, bargain & Sell alien Enfeoff & confirm unto the said Isaac Clement his heirs & assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of Land situate lying & being in the County of Pittsylvania containing by estimate 320 acres be the same more or less and bounded as followeth (to wit) Beginning at a Pine in James Hunts Line thence along his Line Seventy Seven gegrees West two hundred & Sixty three Poles Crossing a Branch to a white Oak North twenty two Degrees 20 Poles to a Hickory thence new Lines South Seventy Eight Degrees West One hundred & fifty Seven Poles to a Pine South forty degrees west Sixty poles to a pine in Begomine Clements Line thence along his Line South fifty Degrees East One hundred & Eighty Eight Poles to a pine thence North fifty three & an half Degrees East One hundred & eighty seven Poles Crossing two Branches to the Beginning To have and to hold the aforesaid granted Land and Premises with all and rights Benefits Privileges and Appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said Isaac Clements his heirs and Assigns forever & the said Thomas Carlton & Martha his Wife for themselves their Heirs Executors or Adm.s doth by these presents Warrant & will forever defend the before granted Land & premises in the bounds above mentioned With all its appertenances to the said Isaac Clements his Heirs & Assigns forever to be at the Time of Granting the same free & Clear from all manner of incumbrances & from the Just Claim or Claims of all Person or Persons whatsoever In Witness whereof the said Thomas Carlton & Martha his Wife to these presents set their hands & affixed their Seals the day & year within Written

At a Court held for Pittsylvania County the 17th day of September 1782
The Within Indenture was proved by the Oaths of two of the Witness thereto to be the Act and Deed of the within Named Thomas Carlton & Martha his Wife & Ordered to be Certified and afterwards (to wit) At a Court held for the said County the 19 Day of August 1783 the same was further proved by the Oath of the Other Witness thereto to be the Act & Deed of the said Thomas Carlton & Martha his Wife All which was Ordered to be Recorded By the Courtt
