This Indenture made this first day of August in the year of our Lord
Christ one thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy one Between James
Clements and Martha his wife of the County of Bedford of the one part
and James Mitchell of the County of Pittsylvania of the other part. Witnesseth
that the Said James Clements
& Martha his wife for and in Consideration of the Sum of Forty Pounds
Current Money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the Said James Mitchell
the Receipt whereof they do hereby Acknowledge Have granted bargained
Sold aliened Released and Confirmed and by these Presents do grant bargain
Sell alien Release and Confirm unto the Said James Mitchell his heirs
and assigns forever one Certain Tract or parcel of Land Containing one
Hundred and Sixteen acres more or Less Lying and being in Pittsylvania
County on Potters Creek and bounded as followeth To Wit Beginning at a
white oak and pine in Benjamin Lankfords line thence New lines South forty
Seven degrees East fifty six poles to a Gum South Seventeen degrees West
one Hundred and Twelve Poles Crossing far Branch to a white oak in Robersons
line thence along his lines South Eighty Six degrees West one Hundred
and ten poles Crossing Potters Creek to a Shrub white Ok thence new lines
north twenty eight degrees west one hundred and four poles to Spanish
oak in Lankfords line thence along the Same North Eighty four degrees
East one hundred and Sixty poles Crossing Potters Creek to the Beginning
with all Houses Orchards Gardens meadows Pastures feeding Weeod underwoods
ways Waters & Water Courses together with all the Estate Right Title
Interst Possession Property Claim and Demand Whatsoever of him the said
James Clement and Martha his
wife of in and to the Said Land premisses or any part or parcel thereof
and the Reversion and Reversions Remainder and Remainders of all and Singular
the before mentioned land and Premisses With their and every of their
appurtenances To have and to hold the Said Land and premisses with their
and every of their appurtenances unto the said James Mitchell his heirs
Executors Adm.s or assigns forever free and Clear from all former or other
Deeds Gifts Grants bargains Sales Dowers Rights of Dowers or any other
Incumbrance Whatsoever and further the said James
Clement & Martha his wife do for themselves their Heirs &
c. Covenant promise and agree to and with the Said James Mitchell his
heirs & c. that they the Right and Title of the said Land and premises
with their and every of their Appurtenances against all Persons Whatsoever
will Warrant and Defend unto the Said James Mitchell his heirs and assigns
forever and Lastly the said James
Clement and Martha his wife do Promise and agree to and with the Said
James Mitchell his heirs & c. that they Shall and will be ready at
all Times hereafter to make any further Deed or Deeds Conveyance or Conveyances
in the Law for the better Securing the Right and Title of the Said Land
and Premisses unto the Said James Mitchell his heirs and assigns as he
the Said James Mitchell his heirs or assigns Shall Reasonabley desire
or Require In Witness whereof the Said James
Clement and Martha his wife have hereunto Set their hands and Seals

This Indenture tegether with the Memorandum of Livery & Seizen and
Reciept thereon indorsed was Ack.d by the within named Ja.s
Clement to be his acts & Deed & Martha wife of the sd. James
being privily Exam.d as the Law directs Relinquished her right of Dower
in and to the within Granted Land and Premises & the same was Ordered
to be Recorded by the Court
