This Indenture made this sixth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four Between Martha Clement of the County of Pittsylvania of the one part, and David Ross of the County of Chesterfield of the other part Witnesseth that the said Martha Clement for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds current money of Virginia to her in hand paid, The receipt whereof she doth hereby acknowledge, hath given, granted, bargained, sold aliened, Enfeoffed and confirmed, and does by these presents give, grant, bargain, Sell, Alien, enfeoff, confirm and deliver unto the said David Ross his heirs and Asigns one certain Tract or parcel of Land lying and being in Pittsylvania County aforesaid on both sided the frying pan containinng Eighty acres, more or less, and bounded as followeth Vix. Beginning at a Post Oak on Henry Cross line, thence up the said line to a dividing line made by John and James Clement, dividing Field Robinsons Land and the said Martha Clements land thence along the said line to Cross line on the other side of the Creek, thence on to said line to a cross line dividing the said Cross land and the said Martha Clements land, thence on the said line to the first station and the Reversion and Reversions, remainder and remainders thereof and all the Estate, right, title Interest, claim and demand whatsoever of her the said Martha Clement of in and to the said Land and premises and every part and parcel thereof To have and to hold the said land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said David Ross his heirs and assigns for ever. And the said Martha Clement does hereby for herself her heirs Executors and Administrators covenant, promise and agree to and with the said David Ross his heirs and assigns that she the said Martha Clement the aforementioned land & premises with the appurtenances unto the said David Ross his heirs ans assigns against all person whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend In Witness whereof the said Martha Clement hath hereunto set her hand and affixed her seal the day and year first within written

Memorandum that on the day and year within written quiet and peaceable possession and seizen of the within mentioned Land and premises with the appurtenances was given and made by Martha Clement to David Ross according to the tenor, affect and true meaning of the within written Deed

The within written Indenture, together with the Memorandum hereon indorsed was proved by the oaths of three of the subscribing witnesses to be the several acts and deed of the within named Martha Clement, all which were ordered to be recorded     Teste Will Tunstall Cl.

[Note: Pittsylvania County, VA, Deed Book 6, pages 425-427 records that Martha CLEMENT had purchased the land she conveyed by this deed from John CLEMENT and Hannah his wife on 7 Nov 1782.]
