This Indenture
made this tenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred
and eighty nine Between Isaac
and Adam Clements Executors of
Benjamin Clement deast
of Pittsylvania and Campbell County of the one part and John Webster Gilbert
of Cambell County of the other part Witnesseth that the said Isaac
and Adam Clement for and in consideration
of Six hundred and fifty pounds Current money of Virginia by John Webster
Gilbert to the said Excors. Isaac
and Adam Clements before the sealing
and and delivery of these presants the receit whereof we the
said Isaac and Adam
Clements doth hereby acknowledge and the said Isaac
and Adam Clements hath bargained
and Sold and by these presants doth grant bargain and Sell Elien
feof and confirm unto the said John Webster Gilbert in fee simple
all that track or parsel of Land containing by estimation three hundred
and seventy five acres lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania County
on the south side of Stanton River and on both sides of Sycamore
Creek and bounded as followeth, to wit, Begining at a Spanish Oak
on the said River, thence runing on the line of the said Clements
former Patent South fifty degrees West twenty to a red oak South forty three
degrees West twenty eight poles to a pine South eighty six degrees West
forty two poles to a pine South seventy one degrees West forty poles to
a pine South twenty degrees West thirty eight poles to a white Oak South
thirty degrees West sixty three poles crossing a branch of the road to pointers
in the said line and thence along Joshua Abstons line North eighty four
degrees West two hundred and sixty eight poles to a White Oak in the line
of the sd. Clements old Patent
again and thence the same South forty seven degrees West twelve poles to
a white oak North thirty five degrees West twenty six poles to a red oak
North nine degrees East eighty two poles to a pine East ten poles to a red
oak North one degree East sixty poles to Hollaways corner pine and thence
on his line North ten degrees West thirty eight poles to a hickory on Sycamore
Creek and thence down the said Creek as it manders to Ralph Smiths
Corner on the sd. Creek and thence on his line North thirty five degrees
East seventy fore poles to a white oak in the said Clements
old line aforesaid and thence the same North thirty three degrees East twenty
poles to a hacberry tree on the river aforesaid opposite to the end
of the Persimmon Island and thence down the said river as it manders
as it manders to the begining. Together with all and singular
the houses and buildings, fences, orchards, Woods, Ways, Waters, Meadows,
and all other benefits whatso Ever to the said Land belonging or in any
wise appertaining and all the Estate, right to the three hundred and seventy
five Acres of Land, be the same more or less to the said John Webster Gilbert
his heirs and asigns for ever to the only use and behoof of him the
said John Webster Gilbert his heirs and asigns for ever and to no
other use or purpose whatso Ever And the said Isaac
and Adam Clements for themselves
and their heirs warrant and and for Ever defend the sd. Land from the clame
or clames of all Persons whatsoever As Witness our hands the day
and Year above written
