  This Indenture made this 2d Day of August Seventeen Hundred and Seventy Seven Between Benj.a Clemonts Jun.r and Mary his wife of the one part and William Evins of the other part both of Pittsylvania County Witnesseth that the sd. Benj. Clements Jun.r and Mary his wife for and in Consideration of the Sum of one Hundred and forty pounds to them in Hand pay'd by the said Evans the Receipt whereof they do Here with Acknowledge Hath Bargain'd Sold and Confirm'd unto the sd. William Evans his Heirs and Assigns and by these Presents do Give Grant and release unto the Said William Evans his Heirs and Assigns for ever one Certain tract or parcel of Land lying in the County of Pittsylvania Containing two Hundred and Twenty Nine Acres and bounded as followeth, to wit, Begining at pointers in Benjamin Clements the Elders line then South thirty Degrees West ninety three poles a pine South Sixty eight poles to a pine South fifty five Degrees West one Hundred and thirty Six poles a pine North Sixty Degrees West Sixty Six poles to a pine North ten Degrees West two Hundred and twenty poles a white Oak North forty seven Degrees East fifty four poles Crossing a branch to pointers thence a new line mark strait for the Begining as by a Deed made Benj. Clements the Elder unto the sd. Benjamin Clement Jun.r Referance being had thereto it may more fully appear together with all and Singular the Priviledges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the Said Land and all the appertain thereto or in any wise Belonging unto the sd. William Evans to the only Proper use and behoof of him the Said William Evans his Heirs or assigns forever and the said Benj. Clement and Mary his wife Doth Covenant and agree to and with the Said William Evins his Heirs & c. that they the Said Clements will warrant and forever Defend the aforesaid Land and Property unto the Said Evins his heirs & c. against all Persons Claiming any right title or Interest in or to the Said Land and Appertainances and from all Incumbrances Whatsoever to this Day In Witness whereof they the Said Benjamin Clement and Mary his wife hath Set their Hands and affixed their Seals this Day and Year first above Written

At a Court held for Pittsylvania County the 27th Day of March 1778
The within Indenture together with the Memorandum of Livery and Siezen and Receipt hereon Indorsed was proved by the Oaths of two of the Witnesses thereto to be the Several Ats and Deed of the within named Benjamin Clement and Mary his wife and the Same is Ordered to be Certified and afterwards, to wit, at a Court Held for the Said County the 19th Day of December 1780 the Same was further proved by the Oath of the of the other witnesses thereto to be the Several Acts and Deed of the Said Benjamin Clement & Mary his wife all which was Ordered to be Recorded by the Court
