This Indenture
made this Fifteenth day of January one thousand eight hundred and one Between
David Motley and Elizabeth his wife by Virtue of a Power of Attorney executed
by Mattox Mays of Edgfield County and State of South Carolinia bearing date
the 11th day of November 1800 of the one part and Vachel
Clement of the County of Pittsylvania and State of Virginia of the other
part Witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the sum of Seventy pounds
current money to us in hand paid by the said Vachel
Clement before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the Recep
whereof we do hereby acknowledge hath granted barganed and Sold, Enfeoffed,
released and confirmed, and by these Presents doth grant, bargan and Sell
unto the said Vachel Clement his
Heirs and Assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of Land situate lying
and being in the County of Pittsylvania called and known by the Name of
the Banister tract containing by Survey Seventy Acres be the same more or
less, and bounded as followeth Viz Beginning at a Corner Pine, thence South
twenty seven degrees West ninety four poles to a Pine, thence South eighteen
degrees East thirty two poles to a Pine and white oak, thence North Eighty
five degrees West Sixty six poles to a white oak and red oak, thence South
forty degrees West fifty six poles to pointers, thence North Sixty degrees
West sixteen poles thence North fifteen degrees East one hundred twenty
two poles a Hickory on Banister river, thence down the said river to the
beginning To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of Land with
its Appertenances unto the said Vachel
Clement his heirs and Assigns for ever free from all manner of incumbrances
and free from the Claim of myself my Heirs & c. and free from the claim
of Mattox Mays and all claiming under him In Witness whereof we have hereunto
set our hands and Seals the day and date first in this Indenture writen
