  This Indenture made his the fourteenth Day of December in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred eighty Between William Evins and Susanna his Wife of the County of Pittsylvania of the one part and Joshua Abston of the same County of the other part Witnesseth that the said William Evins and Susanna his Wife doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted bargained and Sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain deliver and confirm to him the said Joshua Abston his Heirs or Assigns forever one Certain Tract or parcel of land Situate lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania containing two hundred and twenty nine Acres be the same more or less lying on the Branches of Stanton River, To wit, Begining at a pointer on Benjamin Clement the Elders line thence South thirty Degrees west ninty three poles to a pine thence South sixty eight poles to a pine thence South fifty five Degrees West one hundred and thirty six poles to a pine North sixty Degrees West sixty six poles to a pine thence ten Degrees West two hundred and twenty poles to a White Oak North forty seven Degrees East fifty four poles crossing a Branch to pointers thence a New line made straite for the begining and reference thereto being had will at large appeare together with all and singular the priviledges and Appertainances there unto belonging or in any wise Appertaining To have and to hold the above sold Land and Premises with all the appertainances unto the said Joshua Abston his Heirs and Assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Joshua Abston his Heirs and Assigns for ever against him the said William Evins his Heirs or Assigns and against the Clame and demand of all others persons whatsoever shall and will by these presents warrant and forever will defend In Witness whereof he the said William Evins and Susanna his Wife hath hereunto set their Hands and Seals the Day and year first above written

Memorandom that on the Day and year first within mentioned Quiet and peaceable possession of the within mentioned land and premises was given and made by William Evins and Susanna his Wife to Joshua Abston in presents of the Subscribing Witnesses

At a Court held for Pittsylvania County the 15th Day of May 1781
The within Indenture together with the memorandum of Livery & Seizen herein indorsed was proved by the Party of one of the Witnesses to to be the Acts & Deed of the within Named William Evins and Susanna his Wife which was Ordered to be Certified & afterwards, to wit, at a Court held for the said County the 17th Day of July 1781 the Same was further proved by the Oath of one of the other Wintesses thereto to be the Acts and Deed of the Said William and Susanna & the same was Ordered to be Certified and Afterwards, to wit, At a Court held for the said County the 23th Day of August 1781 the same was partly proved by the Oath of one of the other witnesses thereto to be the Acts and Deed of the said William & Susanna his Wife all where was Ordered to be Recorded By the Court
