This Indenture
made the 17th Day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred
& Eighty Six Between John Hubbard & Kezziah
his Wife of the County Pittsylvania of the one part and Joseph Eckhols of
the County of Halifax of the Other part Witnesseth that Whereas John Pigg
Decd. late of the County of Pittsylvania Did by his last Will and Testament
duely record in the Court of the sd. County reference being thereunto had
may More fully Appear did give unto his Daughter Keziah
Hubbard one tract or Parcel of Land being part of the Land Whereon he
Lived in Pittsylvania County and bounded as his said Will Describes Now
for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and fifty pounds Current
Money in hand paid by the said Joseph Eckhols to the said John Hubbard the
receit Whereof is hereby acknowledged they the sd. John Hubbard and Kezziah
his Wife have granted bargained and Sold aliend and Confirmed unto the said
Joseph Eckhols and by these presents do grant bargain alien sell & Confirm
to the sd. Joseph Eckhols his Heirs & Assigns all the right Title Clame
and and Demand that they the said John Hubbard & Kezziah
Wife have or ought to have to all and every part of the afore Mentioned
Land According to the aforesaid Will Expresses it With all woods Waters
Houses and Orchards and all other Appurtainences to the only Proper use
of the said Joseph Eckhols his heirs & Assigns for ever and the said
John Hubbard & Kezziah his
Wife doth Covenant and grant for them Selve and their Heirs to and with
to and with the Said Joseph Eckhols & his heirs & Assigns that they
the said John Hubbard and Kezziah
his Wife will warrant and defend the right and title of the said Land and
Premises to him the said Joseph Eckhols his heirs and Assigns against the
Clames Demand of themselves & their heirs forever In Witness Whereof
the Parties hereunto have set their hands and fixed their seals the day
and year above writen
At a Court held for Pittsylvania County the 17th day of April 1786 The Within Indenture was Acknowledged by the Within Named John Hubbard to be his Act and Deed and Keziah his Wife being privily Examined as the Law Directs Relinquished her right of Dower in & to the Within granted Land and premises Conveyed by her said Husband all which were Ordered to be recorded by the Court
