This Indenture
Made the 14th day of June in the year of our Lord Christ one Thousand &
Seven hundred and Eighty Six Between Hezekiah
Pigg of Pittsylvania County and State of Virginia of the one part and
William Owen of the County and State Aforesaid of the Other part Witnesseth
That the said Hezekiah Pigg for
and in the Consideration of the sum of Eight hundred Pounds Current Money
of Virginia in hand paid by the Said William Owen at or before the sealing
and Delivery of these Presents The Receipt whereof the said Hezekiah
Pigg doth hereby Acknowledge Hath Granted Bargained Sold Aliened Enfeoffed
& confirmed unto the said William Owen his heirs and Assigns forever
one Certain Tract or Parcel of Land Situate Lying & Being in the County
of Pittsylvania and State aforesaid Containing by Estimation four hundred
Acres of Land & Be the same More or less and Bounded as followeth To
wit Beginning at a Maple and Sycamore Tree Standing a the Edge of the Mill
pond thence along William Owen line to a corner poplar tree Standing on
Bar skin Creek thence from the said Corner poplar to John Smiths [indecipherable]
Line & from thence along the said John Smiths to Jesse Robinsons former
Line & from the said Robinsons line thence Crossing to Banister River
& bounded by Thomas Rices line on the South Side of Banister River on
the South a Small White Oak Saplin and Running thence South Twenty Seven
Degrees and thirty Seven poles to pointers in John Piggs Decd. line thence
along the said line South Eighty one Degrees West one hundred poles to a
White Oak North Seventy Eight Degrees West one hundred and forty Eight Poles
to a Red Oak Saplin in the Said Thomas Rices line thence along his line
North Sixteen Degrees East one hundred and thirty two Poles Crossing the
River aforesaid to a White Oak to have and to hold the aforesaid Granted
land and premises with all and Singular the Rights Benefits Priviledges
and Appurtenances Thereunto Belonging or in Any wise Appurtaining to the
said William Owen his heirs and Assigns forever & the said Hezekiah
Pigg Doth by these Presents Warrant and will forever Defend the aforesaid
four hundred acres of Land and premises with all the appurtaining Thereunto
Belonging unto the said William Owen his heirs and assigns forever &
to be Clear at the time of Granting the same free and Clear of and from
all Manner of Incumbrances Whatsoever In Witness Whereof the said Hezekiah
Pigg has hereunto set his hand and Affixed his Seal the day and year
above Written
Received of William Owen the sum of Eight Hundred Pounds in Current Money in full Satisfaction for the within Consideration for th within granted Land and Premises Recd. by me
At a Court held for Pittsylvania County the 16th day of October 1786 The within Indenture Together with the Reciept hereon indorsed was Proved by the oaths of three of the Witnesses thereto to be the Acts & Deed of the within Named Hezekiah Pigg & the same was ordered to be Recorded by the Court
