This Indenture
made this Twenty Sixth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand
Seven hundred and Sixty Eight and in the Year of the Reign of our Sovereign
Lord king George the third Between Joshua Abston of the parish of Cambden
in the County of Pittsylvania of the one part and John Bowman of the same
place of the other part Witnesseth that the said Joshua Abston for and in
consideration of the Sum of Thirty Pounds to him in hand paid by the said
John Bowman before the Ensealing and delivery of these presents the Receipt
whereof he the said Joshua Abston doth hereby Acknowledge and off and from
Every part & parcell Thereof doth Acquit Exonrate and discharge the
said John Bowman his heirs Executors and Administrators by these Presents
hath given Granted Bargained and Sold Aliened Enfeoffed and Confirmed and
by these presents doth give Grant alien Enfeoff and confirm unto the said
John Bowman one Cartain Tract or Parcell of Land Situate in the County of
Pittsylvania and on the uper Side of frying Pan Creek Bounded Limited and
described as follows Viz Begining at a white Oak on the said Creek thence
off South Seventy Degrees West three hundred and Twenty poles to a Black
Oak South Ten degrees East Two hundred and Six Poles Crossing a Branch to
a red oak North Seventy five Degrees East two Hundred and Eighty Two poles
Crossing a Branch to a white oak on the said Cr. and thence Down the same
as it meanders to the Beginning Containing and Laid out for four hundred
Acres and Granted by Patent to Charles Bostick be the same more or less
all Trees woods waters and water Courses together with all houses Orchards
Gardens and Fences and also all the Profitts Commodities Advantages Hereditaments
and appurtenances whatsoever to the said Tract or Parcel of land Belonging
or in any wise appurtaining and also the Reversion and Reversions Remainder
and Remainders Rents and Serervices of the said Land and Premises above
Mentioned and of Every part & parcel thereof and also all the estate
Right Right Title Intrest Claim and Demand whatsoever Either in Equity or
in Law of him the said Joshua Abston and his heirs of in & to the said
premises above Mentioned or any part thereof To have And to hold the said
Tract or Parcell of Land and Premises above mentioned and Every part &
parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the said John Bowman his heirs
And assigns to the only Proper use and Behoof of him the said Joshua Abston
his heirs and assigns forever and the said Joshua Abston for himself &
his heirs doth Covenant and agree to and with the said John Bowman his heirs
& assigns by these Presents that he the said Joshua Abston the above
mentioned Land and Premises and Every part and parcell thereof with the
appurtenances unto the said John Bowman and his heirs & assigns forever
against him the said Joshua Abston his heirs & assigns and all and Every
other person or Persons whatsoever Lawfully Claiming or to Claim under him
them or Either of them Shall and will Warrant and forever defend by these
presents In Witness whereof he the said Joshua Abston hath to these Presents
sett his hand and Seal the day and Year first above Mentioned
Memorandum that on the day and Year first Within mentioned full peaceable and Quiet posseon and Livery of Seisen of the within Granted Land & premises was made done & delivered by the within named Joshua Abston unto the within named John Bowman to hold to him his heirs & assigns forever According to the ? True Intent & meaning of the within written Indenture
Received of John Bowman the day and Year first within mentioned the Sum of thirty Pounds it being the Consideration Mony Mentioned
At a Court held for Pittsylvania County on the 26th Day of Aug 1768 This Indenture together with the Memorandum of Livery & Seizen and receipt hereon endorsed were Acknowledged by the within named Joshua Abstone to be his Several Acts and Deed all which were ordered to be Recorded By the Court
