  This Indenture made this twenty first Day of August one thousand seven hundred and eighty one Between Jesse Roberson of the County of Pittsylvania of the one part and Allen Burton of the County of Cumberland of the other part Witnesseth that the said Jesse Roberson for and in consideration of the Sum of four hundred pounds current Money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Allen Burton the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledge and they doth acquit and Discharge the said Allen Burton and by these presents he the said Jesse Roberson hath granted bargained & Sold and by these presents doth grant bargain & sell unto the said Allen Burton his Heirs and Assigns forever one certain Tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania on little Cherry Stone Creek containing by Estimation one hundred Acres be the same more or less bounded as follows, to wit, beginning at a Spanish Oak in Richard Parsons line thence new lines South seventy Poles to a hickory South sixty two East one hundred and fifteen poles to pointers North sixty two Degrees East seventy eight poles on the old line aforesaid thence the same North three Degrees west one hundred and ten poles to a white Oak and thence a new line South eighty two Degrees west one hundred & sixty two poles to the Beginning together with all Trees Ways Waters & Water Courses Profits Commodities and Appurtenances whatsoever to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said Allen Burton his Heirs Excrs & Administrators To have and to hold the said Tract of Land and Premises with the Appurtenances unto the said Allen Burton his heirs and Assigns forever and the said Jesse Roberson for himself and his heirs doth covenant and agree to and with the said Allen Burton that he the said Jesse Roberson & his Heirs the said Tract or parcel of Land and Premises above mentioned with the appurtenances unto him the said Allen Burton his heirs and Assigns forever and against the Claim or Claims of all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said Jesse Roberson hath hereunto set his Hand and affixed his Seal the Day and year first above written

At a Court held for Pittsylvania County the 21th Day of August 1781
The within Indenture together with the Receipt hereon indorsed was acknowledged by the within named Jesse Roberson to be his acts & Deed & Elizabeth his Wife being privily Examines as the Law directs Relinquished her right of dower in and to the within granted Land & Premises, all which was Ordered to be Recorded By the Court
