This Indenture made and entered into this ninth day of April 1827 Between
Sheriff of Spencer County Kentucky of the one part and William Jewell
of the County and State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth: that whereas
there did issue from the Clerks Office of the Spencer Circuit Court Three
executions comonly Called Fieri
Facias's one in the name of Tilmon McGrudel against the Estate of
Isham Clements for eighty dollars forty nine and three fourths cents Damages
and Eleven dollars eighty two cents costs Dated the 20th day of January
1827 and returnable fourteenth day of April following with the following
indorsements thereon To wit This execution issued on a judgment obtained
on a cause of action which originated since the 1st day of June 1824 one
in the name of William T. Beckham assee. Of Alexander W. Thomas against
the estate of Isham Clements and Willis Clements for two hundred and two
Dollars and fifty cents Damage sand nine dollars and eleven and one half
cents costs dated the 30th day of January 1827 & returnable to the 14th
day of April following indorsement theron to wit. The Execution issued
on a judgment obtained on a cause of action which originated since the
first day of June 1824 and one in favor of William T. Bechham asee. of
Alexander W. Thomas who was assee. of George W. Marquiss against the Estate
of Willis Clements and Isham Clements for one hundred and fifty four dollars
and twenty five cents Damages and nine Dollars and eleven and one half
cents costs indorsed with a credit of ten Dollars dated the 30th day of
January 1827 and returnable to the 14th day of April following with the
following endorsement thereon To wit Either notes on the Bank of Kentucky
Bank of the Commonwealth of Kentucky or their Branches may be received
by the Officer holding this Execution by order of the Plaintiffs attorney.
which said several Executions came into the hands of the said Stephen
Beard Sheriff of Spencer County on the 30th day of January 1827 about
six o'Clock p.m. which said several execution were on the 9th day of February
1827 Served by the said Stephen Beard Sheriff of Spencer County on a certain
tract of Land Lying and being in the County of Spencer as the property
of Isham Clements supposed to contain one hundred and twenty five acres,
and the same being advertised according to Law was on the 5th day of March
1827 on the premises in the County aforesaid exposed to Sale by public
vendue or auction the said tract of land supposed to contain one hundred
and twenty five acres with the appurtinances, and all the Estate right
title claim and demand whatsoever of him the said Isam Clements in unto
and over the same. And whereas the said William Jewell did then and there
bid the sum of six hundred and twenty five dollars and no person biding
more the said Tract of Land and appurtinances was in due manner openly
struck off and sold to the said William Jewell for the said sum of six
hundred and twenty five Dollars on a credit of three months Therefore
to confirm the said purchase to the said William Jewell so as aforesaid
made This Indenture witnesseth: that the said Stephen Beard Sheriff of
the County aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred
and twenty five Dollars for which the said William Jewell hath executed
his sale Bond to the said Tilmon McGruder and William T. Beckham and for
the overplus to the said Isam Clements to have the force and effect of
Replevin Bonds reference
had thereto will more fully appear, hath, given granted bargained, sold,
released, conveyed & confirmed and by these presents does give grant bargain
sell, release convey and confirm unto the said William Jewell and to his
heirs and assigns forever all that said Tract or parcel of Land situate
in the County aforesaid and bounded as follows To wit Beginning at three
Beech trees corner in Alexander W. Thomas's line running thence South
13* West 71 poles to a Swamp oak and Sugar tree corner to John W. Womack
Near a Branch thence with Shelburn's line S 27* W 43 poles to a Beech
and a Buckeye trees in said Jewels line thence with said line S 62* E
83 poles to three Sugar trees in Joshua Brooks's line, thence with his
line N 85* E 40 poles to three sugar trees corner also to said Brooks
thence with an other of sd. Brooks's line S 58 ½* E 79 poles to Sugar
trees and Ironwood corner of Samuel Henry thence with sd. Henry and Jackson's
lines S 28* E 106 poles to three Beech trees corner to Francis Jackson
thence with his line N 63* West 82 poles to three Sugar trees corner on
Alexander W Thomas's line thence with said line S 28* W 26 poles to two
white oak trees thence with another of said Thomas's lines N 64* W 100
poles to the Beginning Containing by actual survey one hundred fifteen
acres To Have and to hold the same to the said William Jewell and his
heirs forever. And the said Stephen Beard Sheriff as aforesaid for and
in consideration of the sum of six hundred and twenty five Dollars So
bid and secured to be paid as aforesaid and in further consideration as
his duty as Sheriff hath granted bargained & sold and by these presents
doth transfer and convey to the said William Jewell and his heirs forever
the above described Tract of Land with its appurtinances free from the
claim of him the said Isam Clements his heirs & c. as fully and completely
as by Law and his duty as Sheriff he is authorized to convey the Same.
In Testimony whereof the said Stephen Beard as Sheriff of Spencer County
here unto sets his hand and seal the day and year first within written.

I Raphael Lancaster Clerk of the County Court for the County aforesaid
do hereby certify that on the day of the date hereof This Indenture was
acknowledged before me in my office by the within named Stephen Beard
Sheriff of Spencer County to be his act and Deed and thereupon admitted
to Record. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 7th day
of May 1827
