Martha M. S. Clement from Johnson Clement
Know all men by these presents that I Johnson Clement have this day bargained and sold and delivered to Martha M. S. Clement Four Negroes, Viz Ruth, Merica, Gabriel & Peter, it being in consideration of her interest in certain Negro Slaves, loaned to her Mother and given to her by her grandfather Mat Moore as devised in his last Will, which Negroes or her Interest in the Same she Martha M. S. Clement sold to her father Johnson Clement & gave him with others a Bill of Sale of her interest in said Negroes. The above named Negroes Ruth, Merica, Gabriel & Peter is in full payement for her interest as devised by her grandfather Mat Moore and I Johnson Clement do warrant and defend the title of Said Negroes to Martha M. S. Clement her heirs & assigns against the claims of all persons claiming under me my heirs or assigns in Witness Whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Seal this 11th day of September 1836
