Lettetia D & Leander Hughes from J. Clement
Know all men by these presents that I Johnson Clement have this day bargained and sold and delivered to Lettetia D. & Leander Hughes Three Negroes, Viz, Phebe, Isaac & Tamer and their increase it being in consideration of Lettetia D. Hughs Interest in certain Negroes loaned to her mother and given to her by her grandfather Mat Moore as devised in his last Will, which Negroes or her interest in the same, they Lettetia D. & Leander Hughes sold to Johnson Clement & gave him with others a Bill of Sale of their interest in said Negroes. The above named Negroes Phebe, Isaac & Tamer is in full payement for their interest as devised by her grandfather Mat. Moore and I Johnson Clement do warrant & defend the title of said Negroes to Lettetia D & Leander Hughes their heirs and assigns against the claims of all persons claiming under me my heirs or assigns in Witness Whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Seal this 11th day of September 1836
