  George the third & c. To all & c. Know ye that for divers good Causes and Considerations but more especially for and in Consideration of the sum of Thirty Shillings of good and Lawful Money for our use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia We have given granted and Confirmed and by these Presents for us our heirs and successors give grant and Confirm unto Joshua Absten one Certain tract or parcel of Land containing two hundred and sixty acres Lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania on the waters of Sycamore Creek and bounded as follows, to wit, Beginning at the said Abstens Corner pine thence on his Line South eighty degrees East thirty eight Poles to Pointers thence new Lines South fifty four degrees West seventy four poles to a pine South sixty three degrees West one hundred and eighty eight poles crossing two Branches to a hickory North eighteen degrees West sixty Poles to Pointers North forty four degrees West forty six poles to a post oak North forty three degrees East three hundred and four poles to Pointers in Hollands Line thence on his Lines South twenty seven degrees East twelve poles to a pine North eighty seven degrees East twenty six Poles to a pine in the said Abstens Line and thence on the same South one hundred and sixty four Poles to the Beginning Wtih all & c. To have hold & c. To be held & c. Yielding and paying & c. Provided & c. In Witness & c. Witness our trusty and well beloved John Earl of Dunmore our Lieutenant and Governor General of our said Colony and Dominion at Williamsburg under the seal of our said Colony the first day of May one thousand seven hundred and seventy five In the fifteenth year of our Reign
