  Benjamin Harrison Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that by virtue and in Consideration of part of a Land Office Treasury Warrant Number Twelve Thousand five hundred and Eighty and Issued the Twenty Seventh day of June one Thousand seven hundred and Eighty two there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto Isaac and Adam Clements Assignee of Joshua Stone a Certain Tract or parcel of Land containing six hundred and Thirty acres by Survey bearing date the Twenty seventh day of August one Thousand seven hundred and Eighty two lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania on the South side of Stanton river and on both sides of Reed Creek and bounded as followeth, to Wit, Beginning at Richard Thurmans corner pine, and thence his lines North Eighty five degrees East one hundred poles to a pine, North Sixty two degrees East one hundred and two poles crossing a branch to a pine South thirty three degrees East one hundred and twenty eight poles to a red oak in Painter branch and down the same as it meanders to pointers in Thurmans old line and thence along the same North Sixty three degrees East Twenty five poles crossing reed Creek to a pine, and thence new lines North thirty degrees West Sixty six poles to a pine North Seventy one degrees West ten poles crossing the Creek to pointers in Adams line thence his lines South Eighty six degrees West thirty seven poles to a red oak North one degree East forty poles to a pine, North forty one and a half degrees West Sixty poles crossing long branch to a pine Thence new lines North fifty degrees West one hundred and eighteen poles crossing a branch to a pine, North Eighty six degrees West eighty two poles to pointers North Twelve degrees East one hundred and fifty eight poles to a pine North Twenty two degrees West Eighty poles to a Creek in Stanton River, and up the same as it meanders fourteen poles to Benjamin Clements Decd. corner Spanish oak and thence off on his lines South fifty degrees West twenty poles to a red oak South forty three degrees West twenty eight poles to a pine South Sixty eight degrees West forty five poles to a pine South twenty one degrees West forty poles to a pine South twenty degrees West thirty eight poles to a white oak South thirty degrees West one hundred and Sixty poles crossing a branch and the Road to a pine and thence on Joshua Abstons lines South thirty eight poles to a pine South fifty five degrees West one hundred and thirty six poles to a pine in Thomas Robertsons line South forty five degrees East forty six poles to pointers and thence new lines North Eighty five degrees East one hundred and twenty four poles to a pine South nineteen degrees East forty poles to a pine South thirty nine degrees East nine poles to the Beginning with its appurtenances To have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances to the said Isaac and Adam Clements and their Heirs forever In Witness whereof the said Benjamin Harrison Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and caused the lesser seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the fifteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and eighty four and of the Commonwealth the Eighth

[Note: Pittsylvania County, VA, Deed Book 10, pp. 258-259 records that Isaac CLEMENT subsequently sold his part in the land acquired by the above patent to Adam CLEMENT on 26 Aug 1795.

Pittsylvania County, VA, Deed Book 17, pages 401-403 records that Adam CLEMENT subsequently conveyed the land acquired by the above grant and and subsequent deed to his sons Alexander and George W. CLEMENT on 16 Oct 1811.]
