Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia To all to whom these presents shall
come Greeting Know ye that by virtue and in consideration of the Ancient
composition of two pounds fifteen shillings sterling paid by John Hubbard
into the Treasury of this Commonwealth there is granted by the said commonwealth
unto the said John Hubbard a certain tract or parcel of Land containing
five hundred and fifty Acres by an Inclusive Survey bearing date the sixteenth
day of May one thousand seven hundred and eighty six, lying and being in
the County of Pittsylvania on the Branches of Bearskin Creek and bounded
as followeth to wit Beginning at Thomas Hodges corner white oak in Samuel
Emmersons line, and thence along Emmersons lines South seventy nine degrees
West ninety two poles to a red oak sapling near the East fork of Bearskin
South twenty five degrees West eighty eight poles crossing the said fork
to a white oak South thirty five degrees West two hundred and ten poles
crossing a branch to pointers on John Piggs road North forty two degrees
West one hundred and sixteen poles to a black Jack North twenty four degrees
West seventy four poles to pointers North forty eight degrees West fifty
eight poles to pointers in John Cox's line and thence along Cox's lines
North seventy five degrees East one hundred and sixty five poles to pointers
North forty nine degrees East one hundred and fourteen poles to a chesnut
tree North twenty seven degrees West thirty six poles crossing a small branch
to a gum sapling North eight and a half degrees East ninety six poles to
a spanish oak South eighty nine degrees West fifty five poles to two Chesnuts,
thence new lines North ten degrees West eighty four poles to a red oak North
seventy seven degrees East one hundred and thirty four poles to a white
oak South eighty six degrees East eighty poles to a Chesnut South thirteen
degrees East forty one poles to a red oak South forty seven degrees West
thirty six poles to pointers south thirty degrees East sixty six poles to
two red oaks in Thomas Hodges line aforesaid and thence along his lines
South seventy degrees West fourteen poles to a red oak, and South twenty
degrees East one hundred and thirty four poles to the beginning with its
appurtenances To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land with
its appurtenances to the said John Hubbard and his Heirs for ever In Witness
whereof the said Henry Lee Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia
hath hereunto set his hand and caused the lesser seal of the said Commonwealth
to be Affixed at Richmond on the twenty sixth day of July in the year of
our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety three and of the Commonwealth
the Eighteenth.
