Fred E. Cook was a farmer. He was also something of a musician and loved music. He put together a family band by teaching his eldest son to play the violin, his eldest daughter to play the organ and his wife to cord a guitar. He, himself played the mandolin. It is said that when the Cooks went out on the porch to make music on summer evenings, neighbors drove up in buggies to listen.

History: Known by his initials H.L., he was mostly a farmer. He was part of the Oklahoma land rush of 1889. In Oklahoma he ran an overall factory and also managed a couple of hardware stores. At one time he may have gone to Idaho fo farm potatoes with his father and his brother. He mostly lived in Caddo Co., OK. He played the fiddle at dances and weddings. He was on the school board and was the president of the Binger Chamber of Commerce.
