Canniff Mills Cemetery
Hi, My name is Vicki Turner and I reside in the village of Cannifton Ontario. I have lived here for 20 years and love the village. I have been trying to get City of Belleville council members to assist me in restoring the "Abandoned Canniff Mills Cemetery" but so far have gotten no where. My husband (Steve Turner) and I have exhausted all avenues in finding help in the restoration process, so we have taken it upon ourselves to try and bring this landmark back to its original state. We receive no funding so any and all expenses occurring come directly from our own pockets. So far our efforts has drawn a lot of interests by locals of the village and volunteers have stepped forward to assist us in our efforts, Many thanks go out to them. If you wish to help us in our efforts to restore Canniff's Mills Cemetery, please contact us. [email protected]

Garrison Cemetery
Name: Abandoned Location: Blessington Road (C3/L3)
Description: In 1834 this property was owned by the Garrison family. In 1892 John Beverly Robinson and Arllian Byron Robinson obtained this land. The cemetery is mentioned in the Hastings County Land Records at this time.
The above proper name for the above cemetery is the "Garrison Cemetery" which I have a copy of the original blueprint. The history is that my 4th great aunt, Catherine Ross (5th daughter of William Ross, U.E. and grand-daughter of Zenas Ross, U.E.) born in 1807, married in 1830 one Caleb A. Garrison, born 1807. They owned a farm on lot 3, Concession 3 of Tyendinaga Township, Hastings County. Catherine convinced Caleb to donate a portion of land to the Methodist Church, which was Lot 3, Concession 3, North Half, North East Corner. The first burial was in 1825 and to date there are 102 buried here.
Thanks to Charles (Chuck) Geo. Ross, U.E. for the above information and photos!
