Ten Anglican Cemetery / Old Homer Cemetery
Ten Anglican Cem, Homer, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Lincoln Co. The cemetery is
located almost under the QEW which arches up in the air at that point; you can't
get at it on the QEW - you have to be on Hwy/ Rd 81 heading from St. Catharines
east towards Niagara Falls; it is on the right side of the highway almost as you
leave St. Catharines, cross a small bridge and there it is - a parking strip
with a set of steps leading up to the old cemetery. We went barreling right by
it the first time and had to ask & turn around.
This an important record of the origins of this family who came as UELs to the
Niagara area. William & Lydia were the proprietors of a grist mill in
Anderson, and William would not join the local Patriot militia for the
Revolution. They packed up what they could carry, and rode or walked
cross-country the 500 miles.
Thanks to Carol Morrow for the photos and information!
