CLINTON FAMILY BIBLIOGRAPHY STATEMENT
BIBLIOGRAPHY STATEMENT

The Clinton family of Connecticut and the families of many spouses have been well-documented by a famous and very capable genealogist, Donald Line Jacobus. He included the Clinton Family in successive articles published in the "New Haven Genealogical Magazine" 1922-1932. The eight original volumes plus the cross-index, developed in 1939 by Helen Love Scranton, were put in three-volume book form and published by the Genealogical Publishing Co. of Baltimore. The books are entitled "Families of Ancient New Haven".

The second documentation of the Clinton family of Connecticut is in a publication appropriately named "The Clinton Family of Connecticut". Data was compiled by Mrs. E. J. Clinton of Clintonville, CT, and communicated by Donald Lines Jacobus.

Many of the related families, the Painters, Bristols, Lamberton, Thompson, etc. were also documented in separate compilations by Donald Lines Jacobus.

Since a large volume of data was taken from all of those documents, no specific citation as the source will be made, unless there is a particular need to do so.

As we are able, birth, death, marriage certificates are being obtained for more recent generations, census records are searched, etc. and where possible, we are trying to verify all information. Online subscriptions to all census records are a help, but the information is only as reliable as the person that gave the information to the enumerator. Subscriptions to Wisconsin Historical Society, New England Historic and Genealogical Society, Godfrey Memorial Library and Ancestry.Com have been the sources for information obtained more recently. Most of that information has not yet been added to this website. However, we will appreciate additions and corrections from our many "cousins" out there. You can email us from the top of any page.
