Commission is the government agency responsible for maintaining overseas
military cemeteries for all conflicts since the founding of our country. This database is an extract and contains a
listing of Cobbs still yet buried overseas from World Wars One and Two; and a
listing of Cobbs who were casualties of the Korean War.
The Department of Veteran’s
Affairs (formerly called the Veteran’s Administration; or VA for short) is
responsible for providing military headstones for veterans, which have been
requested by surviving family members.
This database is extracted from the DVA website and is a listing of all
Cobbs buried in the

database includes a listing of veterans from the War of 1812 up to the present
time, their spouses and children.
This
is NOT just a listing of persons buried in national cemeteries, but includes
burials in non-government cemeteries also.
From
the genealogical standpoint, let me point out something. A government military grave marker has to be
requested by a surviving family member ... WHO HAS PROVIDED DOCUMENTATION OF
THE VETERAN’S MILITARY SERVICE.
Therefore, if you’ve had difficulty identifying an ancestor’s service,
and you can find him/her listed in this database, you will have assurance that
somebody at some point in time did have the proof you seek.

to my understanding of Federal Law, it is possible to find a Confederate
veteran buried in a

some strange reason it is also possible to find duplication in this
database. By that I mean multiple
records of headstones for the same person in multiple locations. There are not many, and the ones I’ve found
have been grouped together and placed in BLUE font.
