Shipjoiner.
A Jonathan Coddington sold ten acres in the northwestern part of the town of Walkill to James Bingham before 1800. A "John Coddington" appears on the 1803 tax rolls of Walkill, Orange Co., New York and was assessed for real estate at $150 and personal property at $71. A "Mr. Coddington" had a log house prior to 1791, near where the village of Circleville now stands. Circleville is in the northwest part of Walkill. At the time it was a thick forest. A Jonathan Coddington was enumerated in the 1810 census in Mamakating, Sullivan Co., although the fit of the 1810 census record to this family is not particularly good.
