On 11 March 1890, Ann wrote, "I am so weak that I can hardly sit up to write to you two years this morning my husband died by the day of the week. O but that 2 years is so long I wish you and all the members of your church would pray for me that I might get strong again and able to work to wits I used to weigh 250 but now I dont way half of that." ⁴⁹⁷⁷
