"This enterprising farmer is a native of this township and county. He was born Feb. 7, 1834. He received the usual common-school education and was married the first time in December 1859 to Elizabeth Kirkhast, who was one year his junior. These parents had one child, Emma, born October, 1860, died when about three years of age. In October, 1860, Mrs. C. was called upon to part from his companion by death, and he was again married in May, 1864 to Elizabeth Carroll, a native of this county, born May, 1840. ^958,1499
