Died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edwin J. Turner.
One of the last Civil War officers in his area. Joined the 5th Ohio Volunteers Infantry as a private at the outbreak of the war and served 4 1/2 years. Took part in Sherman's march to the sea, and in many great battles of the war, being promoted to lieutenant and captain. He was a lifelong republican. He voted for President Lincoln and for many republican candidates for president.
He was also one of the most enthusiastic baseball fans of Hamilton Co. He followed the fortunes of the Cincinnati baseball teams since their inception over 60 years and knew all the old players and the new ones and until his eyes failed him was a faithful attendant at the games. ^{241,391,594,1520}
